My Word(s) for 2014: BE STILL
Updated: Nov 8, 2019
I love hearing what everyone’s words for the year are. I have never actually officially chosen a word for the year before … Although I’m pretty sure that last year’s word ended up being hope.
A few weeks ago I started thinking that perhaps this would be the year that I pick a word and perhaps it would actually be two words: be still. I started pondering those two words together and feeling like those would be good words to focus on for the year.
The idea that I can’t fix everything that I wish I could fix and need to just be still because God will fight those battles for me and also the idea to take a break often to just be still and know that God is God are things that I believe can only bring comfort, strength, and hope (there is that word again, hope).
Those two simple words put together: be still. They are difficult to accomplish. They are difficult for me to accomplish. Life is busy. And the temptation to be in constant motion is always there. So when our wonderful pastor **just so happened** to give the sermon that he gave last Sunday on being still (1/5/14), it got my attention. I guess those are words that are good for me to meditate on this year indeed. So be still will be my words for the year.
I will try my best to be still…
